Colectivo's love affair with the longer, harder road began 25 years ago.

The cult coffee pioneers started experimenting with hand-roasting in the back of a Wisconsin woodshop in 1993. Today they lovingly roast 2 million pounds of coffee by hand every year, make every baked good from scratch, boast their own line of rotating (and often coffee-inspired) craft beers and hand-build each of their 18 cafes from floorboards to light fixtures.

With an increasingly rare belief in not growing any faster than they can do things by hand, it's no wonder it took the independently owned and operated crew more than two decades to cross state lines into Chicago.

As the company continues to grow on their own terms, we've helped them land over 130 earned media features showcasing their old-school commitment to craftsmanship.
